At its February 10-12, 2017 Winter meeting in Saint Louis, Missouri, the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education took the following actions: (Note:  Date in parenthesis is the date of the next currently scheduled evaluation visit to the programs. Depending on the outcomes of annual reports, progress reports, interim visits, substantive program changes and other significant events affecting a program, the Council may decide to schedule a full on-site evaluation visit before the original accreditation period is complete. The accreditation period is eight years for professional optometric degree and optometric residency programs and seven years for optometric technician programs.)

1. Preaccreditation Actions

Classification of "Preliminary Approval" granted following a full evaluation visit:None

2. Initial Accreditation

Classification of "Accredited" granted to the following programs following a full evaluation visit:

A.  Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University Residency in Neuro-Ophthalmic Disease (2024);

Classification of "Accredited With Conditions" granted to the following program following a full evaluation visit:

None

3.  Continuing Accreditation

Classification of "Accredited" continued following a full evaluation visit:

A. Bennett and Bloom Eye Centers Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with Indiana University School of Optometry (2024);

B. Bedford VAMC, Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Residency in Primary Eye Care/Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with New England College of Optometry (2024);

C.  Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center Residency in Ocular Disease, which is affiliated with The Ohio State University, College of Optometry (2024);

D.  Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, Professional Optometric Degree program (2024);

E.  Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University Residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy (2024);

F.  University of Missouri-St. Louis, College of Optometry Professional Optometric Degree program (2024);

G.  VA Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center Residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation, which is affiliated with Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University (2024).

5.  Reconsideration of Accreditation Denial

None

6. Withdrawal of accreditation by ACOE

A.    Philadelphia VAMC Residency in Primary Care Optometry, which is affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University  

*A decision to withdraw accreditation is not final until the ACOE appeals process has been exhausted, or until 30 days from notification to the program of the action to withdraw accreditation.

7.  Voluntary withdrawal of accreditation
